While in the application process you MAY NOT start any wars, if you do so you will be denied.

You must read every single question carefully. DO NOT simply skim through the questions.

We expect activity out of our applicants. If you go more than 24 hours without answering a question you will be rejected.

Do you know who this is?

Oh, uhm, oops. I just started three wars. One of which is with the State of Israel which must be so controversial that you can't ignore that one. To make things even worse I'll answer your question. That's me! Or was. When I started playing I thought I messed up and couldn't delete my account, so I left that behind and made a new account.

lmao i think i did great here

Please delete that nation before this interview is over. It is likely that you could not delete it before due to it being too new.

Furthermore, we will not accept you until your wars are stopped. Please do so soon. We will have to wait until they are done when the interview is over so we can accept you.

What made you want to join BK?

On my quest to find a shrubbery The Black Knights seem to best suit my Monty Python theme. The fact that losing a limb is considered a mere flesh wound instead of a mortal blow to the body by The Mad Titan also helps.

The nation is deleted, how did you find that out? Even I forgot about it.

I'll end my wars as quick as possible, that said, it's going to take a few turns.

I'm somewhat new to Discord, but my nickname says I'm Hank Spoonfull#1954 on the P&W Discord. And yeah, I'll be able to check the forums and Discord daily most of the time. Holidays being the exception.

You should see a link that says "Discord" at the top of our forums, which will take you to our public Discord channel. Additionally, you can use this link here: https://discord.gg/KnTusXA. Feel free to pop in and get to know some of our members.

We require new members go through a university. It will help you learn more about the game, and how to grow your nation efficiently. Are you okay with doing this?

What time zone do you live in? By knowing when you're most likely going to be online, it will help us coordinate events and wars.

GMT+1, I'm from the Netherlands. I'll usually online between 19:00PM to up to 01:00AM. I work during the day, so I might be online on things like discord, but I won't bother checking unless it's an emergency. Somewhat flexible.

Why is an electrical outlet called an outlet when you plug things into it? Shouldn’t it be called an inlet?

I believe this is one of many flaws of the English language. The Dutch word "stopcontact" is obviously superior as the outlet is connected with a power group in a fuse box. Fuses obviously are called "stoppen". So the outlet is the place where you make contact with the stoppen. One of the most practical solutions for this I can think of is that everybody should learn Dutch.

Also I finished my last war just now.

BK has reached the top by having a strong community of active individuals. We expect high levels of activity from new members in order to ensure strong performance. We place the alliance above self, and in return we make sure everyone is taken care of. Are you okay with this?

What do you consider high level of activity?

I'm completely okay with daily activity, somewhat more in most weekends, but in the end I am a busy man. There's shrubberies to be earned in real life, for which I work my ass off. Ambushing all travelers that come by to demand payment is half a days work. The rest of the time I do freelance jobs in media/opsec.

Placing the alliance above myself in the game will be no problem at all.

It only takes a minute or two every day to get on and check your nation, so we expect daily activity; however, we only kick people if they have not logged in for the past 7 days.

BK is a meritocracy, so we like to encourage and reward members to contribute to the alliance by getting a job in a department. We have several entry-level positions to choose from within our departments. Which sounds the most interesting to you?

  • IA Staff - the Internal Affairs department has several positions available based on rank. IA Staff is the easiest entry-level position where you can start working yourself up. Duties include: contributing to the activity of the alliance by posting discussion topics and coming up with events, assisting leadership with the applicant interviews, recruiting and other activities as you progress. IA staff is the backbone of BK, and your hard work becomes the basis of our community. Join this if you want to have a lasting imprint on the culture of BK.
  • Diplomat Corps - the public face of the alliance. Diplomats represent the alliance in other Discord channels and are responsible for reporting weekly to the FA Office. Join the FA staff if you want to represent BK abroad, and increase our external prestige.
  • Economics Staff - Econ is responsible for maintaining and creating a budget to align with BK goals, building and maintaining a war chest for the alliance to use during fights on global or small scales, trading resources to help BK profit over time, and training with other new members of economics. Econ requires a bit more specialized knowledge and people wishing to join will have to enter Economics University to learn more about the game's mechanics. Join Econ if you want to make BK more prosperous, increasing the size of all BK nations.
  • Education, Development, and Optimization (EDO) – EDO is responsible for ensuring that members have optimal builds and are complying with alliance-wide resource and military mandates. They additionally help mentor new members. EDO is also responsible for visual graphics and ads that we use to broadcast our alliance’s message to Orbis. If you are interested in making BK stronger from within or producing propaganda for BK’s cause, EDO is for you.

I like spreadsheets. So the obvious choice for me would be the economics staff.

PS: I'm away for the weekend, I'm not sure if I'll be around until Monday to respond to additional questions.

That's fine. We can wait. I'll post the next question and you can reply at any time.

BK expects growth out of its members and provides generous grants to members to do so. Are you willing to be active enough to apply for what is essentially free money to help grow your nation?

Howdy, I'm back.

That's not a trick question, is it? What's the catch? But yeah, I've been drooling over the grants page already and I've been building my cities up to the requirements so I'll be eligible as soon as possible.

BK runs a command economy and military. Our success comes from teamwork and sacrifice. You may be ordered to attack a target larger than you or build a city in a set period of time. What would you do if you disagree with these orders?

If I felt really strongly about it I'd try to resolve it with the command by talking to them. I'm an Architect according to the 16 personalities type test, so I'll try to use my wits to find an alternative. If there is no other way, well, I know what I signed up for.

I'm not in it for individual succes - I don't think any of you are either if I look at the rankings. Black Knights are ranked third as a whole, yet no individual member is ranked in the top 100.

DO IT

First I'd hold off until the situation is resolved.
Secondly I'd inform them that there are contradicting orders.
If the situation is not resolved and both officers proceed to press their orders I look higher up in the chain of command.
If that's no help either, I'd follow the most senior officers orders. And in case that's unclear I'll use my own judgement.
